When choosing a distance learning provider, check the following:

that all material and books to complete your course of study are supplied;

that you have good tutor support – ideally you should be supplied with an individual tutor who will work with you all the way through the course and you should have direct contact details for your tutor (either email or telephone);

check that the provider gives you enough time to complete the course – most providers will set a time limit;

check what happens if you are ill or need to take time away from the course for another reason – does the provider offer enough flexibility to allow you to do this?;

if there is an exam at the end of the course, where are the exam centres and how easy will it be for you to register for the exam – ensure you understand the process involved before signing up for a course.
